Gathering Together in Solidarity on Falmouth Village Green
Sat, Jan 21, 2017 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Come rally in solidarity with over 100 simultaneous marches across the country and the world. Inspired by the March on Washington and the Boston March for America, Cape residents will stand with the day’s other events around the country, with our partners, neighbors, and children for the protection of our rights, safety, liberty, environment, and families. These marches and rallies represent a first step to unite our communities and empower grassroots change. In the face of national and international concern and fear, we are confronted with the question, “How do we move forward?” The answer begins with solidarity and a commitment to action.
We are rooted in a belief that women’s rights are human rights and that vibrant and diverse communities are the strength of our country. We stand for tolerance, inclusion, and nonviolence. Let us unite in solidarity, committed to defending each other and those communities affected by hate, intolerance, threats, and acts of violence being perpetrated throughout the nation: women, immigrants of all statuses, people from all diverse faith backgrounds, people in the LGBTQIA community, Native and indigenous people, Black and Brown people, people with disabilities, survivors of sexual assault, the economically impoverished, minimum wage workers, and all who feel threatened. This gathering also confirms commitment to protecting our planet, which is threatened by climate change.
We will work peacefully to send a bold message to our elected leaders and legislators - local, state and federal - that the United States of America stands for values of human decency, equal rights, safety, and freedom from discrimination, and that we must address climate change.
